📘 Real Step-by-Step Approach to Crack TCF B1 Listening
1. Read the question first
Before audio, identify the task: reason, time, place, person, action, problem, or solution.
2. Predict answer type
If the question asks “Pourquoi”, wait for car / parce que / à cause de / en raison de.
3. Catch signal words
Words like mais, puis, finalement, sauf, avant, après, à partir de often control the answer.
4. Avoid word traps
A wrong option may contain a word you heard, but the meaning is changed or negated.
5. Choose meaning, not memory
The correct answer is usually a paraphrase, not exactly the same sentence.
6. Use the second listening
First listening = global meaning. Second listening = confirm the exact option.
👶 Grade 1 Method: 5 tiny steps
Step 1: Ask: “What is the question asking?” Is it WHY, WHEN, WHO, WHAT, or WHAT TO DO?
Step 2: Listen only for that answer. Do not try to understand every word.
Step 3: Catch one strong word: car, mais, avant, après, doit, annulé, retard.
Step 4: Remove two stupid answers first. Usually two options are clearly impossible.
Step 5: Pick the option that gives the same meaning, not always the same words.
🚨 Biggest TCF Trick
The exam often puts a word from the audio inside a wrong option. Hearing a word does not mean the option is correct. Always ask: “Did the speaker really say this meaning?”
🔑 Magic Listening Words
because → reason answer
but/however → opposite idea
before/after → time answer
because of → cause/problem
must/please → instruction
