Why Italy (Quick)
Italy regularly opens work quotas for non-EU nationals (the Decreto Flussi). Demand is steady in agriculture, construction, logistics, hospitality, and home-care. If you secure a genuine job offer, the employer files a work authorization (nulla osta) inside Italy, then you complete your work-visa at VFS Dhaka.
Legal Routes Overview
Route | Who it’s for | How it works | Permit after arrival |
---|---|---|---|
Employer-Sponsored (Non-Seasonal) | Factory, construction, caregiving, logistics | Employer applies for nulla osta during quota → you apply for Type-D visa | Permesso di soggiorno (work), renewable |
Seasonal (≤9 months) | Agriculture, tourism | Employer files seasonal nulla osta → Type-D (seasonal) | Seasonal permesso tied to job length |
EU Blue Card | Skilled roles (IT, engineering, health, finance) | Qualified job + salary threshold → Blue-Card work auth | Blue-Card residence; longer validity |
How to Find a Real Employer (No Agent)
Where to search
- EURES (EU job portal) — filter country: Italy, keywords: “sponsor”, “non-EU”, “work permit”.
- LinkedIn (location Italy) + Indeed.it — use Italian keywords too (es. “assunzione extra-UE”).
- Company career pages (logistics, food processing, hotels, care homes).
Spot the genuine offers
- Company email domain (e.g.,
@company.it
), full address, VAT number on website. - Clear duties, contract type, and location in the posting.
- No request for “visa processing” money from you. Employer pays Italian filing costs.
Employer-Sponsored — Step-by-Step (DIY)
1) Pre-application (you)
- Prepare Europass CV (English/Italian), 1-page cover letter, passport scan.
- Collect references, training certificates, basic police clearance (BD).
2) Company filing (inside Italy)
Your employer files the nulla osta via the ALI / Sportello Unico Immigrazione portal when quotas are open. They’ll need: your passport info, job title, contract terms, accommodation details, and sometimes an asseverazione (a compliance check).
3) Your visa (Bangladesh)
- Book work-visa at VFS Dhaka per current instruction (portal/email).
- Submit application with nulla osta, job contract, passport, photos, visa form, insurance, and any translations.
4) After entry to Italy (within 8 working days)
- Go with employer to Sportello Unico Immigrazione to sign the contract of stay.
- Post-office “yellow kit” to apply for your permesso di soggiorno (work). Keep all receipts.
- Attend Questura fingerprints. Your receipt functions as proof while the card is processed.
Seasonal Work — ≤9 Months
Ideal for agriculture and tourism. The employer requests a seasonal nulla osta during the seasonal quota. Your visa length matches the job. After arrival, you still file a seasonal permesso.
- Return or convert? Seasonal is typically temporary. Some pathways allow conversion later—watch annual rules and quotas.
EU Blue Card (Skilled)
Requires a higher-skilled offer aligned with your degree/experience and a salary meeting the national Blue-Card threshold. The employer files Blue-Card work authorization; you apply for the visa and receive a longer, renewable residence permit.
VFS Dhaka — Booking & Submission
- Check the current VFS Italy–Bangladesh page for the booking method (portal account or email) for work-visa.
- Assemble your file before the slot opens to avoid delays.
- Attend biometrics on time; keep your receipt safe; track your application.
Documents Checklists (Fast Copy)

FAQs
Can I really do it alone?
Yes. For work routes, an Italian employer must still file the nulla osta. But you can handle job search, documents, VFS booking, and post-arrival steps yourself.
Is Italian mandatory?
Not legally for all jobs, but basic Italian significantly helps interviews, workplace safety, and integration.
What if the quota is closed?
Prepare documents and watch for the next opening. Consider seasonal roles, Blue Card, or study/family → work conversions if you qualify.
