BEGINNER PATH
Do not memorise French as English with new words.
French A1 becomes easier when pronunciation, article/gender, verb form and sentence use stay together.

One sentence can teach several systems.
Je voudrais un café, s'il vous plaît. gives you subject + verb form + article + noun + politeness in one useful line.

Train the sounds that cause the most difficulty for beginners instead of trying to pronounce every written letter.

Can a complete beginner use this?+
Yes. The pathway starts with greetings, sound patterns and very short sentences before articles, gender and verb systems become more detailed.

Yes. Noun gender affects articles and often adjective forms, so learn a noun with its article whenever possible: un livre, une table.

Why does French not sound exactly as it is written?+
French spelling preserves many historical patterns. Silent endings, nasal vowels, liaison and multi-letter sound combinations mean listening must accompany reading.
