- Final consonants are often silent: petit → পুতি (not পেতিত)
- Nasal vowels: An, en, in, on, un = nasalized → ঙ-সদৃশ ধ্বনি
Ex: pain → পাঁ, bon → বঁ - G + e/i/y = জ
G + a/o/u = গ - C + e/i/y = স
C + a/o/u = ক - CH = শ
Ex: chocolat → শো-কো-লা - GN = ঞ
Ex: montagne → মঁ-তাঞ - ILL (after vowel) = ই or ইয়
